Here are the first few pages of the final book with lettering on them. And with parts of the sumi lines colored in. More to follow...

These are the first actual pages of the book I am doing for homework. They are on Arches text wove with sumi ink. The darker ones are what I painted originally. Then I washed them off creating the lighter, smudged ones. No lettering yet; I plan to cover these pages with calligraphy. There are 6 other pages similar to this one. These are just a sampling.

Journal art becomes springboard

These journal pages are the springboard for the homework piece that is in progress. I am hoping to capture some of the spontaneous energy from the sumi lines, as well as the colors. Several artistic decisions have been made, and I have already started cutting the paper for the book.
